Aria Poster Design

My first Graphic Design project at SETU was to design a poster for the fictional headphone manufacturer Aria, including the following text; “The Definitive Music Streaming Service” and “The Smart Choice for Music Lovers”.

Initally I took inspiration from late 90s, specifically the aesthetics and work of David Carson and made a few thumbnails in that direction. However the results looked too messy and incoherent and thus I switched direction. Instead I decided to combine the famous Apple adverts for ipods with the Corporate Memphis patterns from the 1980s.

Initally this meant making sihouettes in black posed against a Memphis background. However to make the concept more distinct from the ipod advetisements, I switched it around so that the sihouette has the Memphis pattern against a single colour background.
